As Conde Nast Johansens Local Expert for the Caribbean, I get to travel to amazing 5 star resorts every month. Last month was Curtain Bluff in Antigua, a premier location where the Resort's signature Bluff separates the Caribbean and the Atlantic. Guests therefore enjoy two pristine beaches: A Calm Caribbean Beach and a Surf Beach on the Atlantic, where all the guest rooms are found.
This trip was unique for several reasons. For starters when traveling for Conde Nast it's rare for me to spend 4 nights at the same Resort, but it's definitely the best way to capture the full experience. I am also normally traveling alone so I was thrilled that my cousin from NY could join me. Finally, I coordinated to overlap 1 night with Kino MacGregor, who I work with to organize amazing yoga film trips around Caribbean and beyond.
Upon arriving to the airport I was greeted by Wanda who was holding a Curtain Bluff sign. I was surprised to see her before going through immigration or customs. But she was there to give me a special VIP pass to cut the long immigration line. WOW, talk about Service! There was another team member on the other side of immigration to help guide me through customs and then another smiling face to facilitate transportation. The Signature Meet & Greet Team at the airport set the stage for the extraordinary experience waiting at Curtain Bluff.
All Rooms & Suites at Curtain Bluff are all beachfront. We loved waking up to the sound of the sea and watching the sunrise from our Junior Suite. Every meal at Curtain Bluff was amazing. We especially enjoyed dining on the beach at the Seagrape Restaurant. The Food & Beverage team caters to all dietary requirements and remembered to bring Gluten Free bread for me everyday.
Curtain Bluff is a luxury fully inclusive resort so we most certainly took advantage of all the complimentary resort amenities. We snorkeled Cades Reef, which is just minutes off Curtain Bluff, where we saw an octopus, turtle and lots of other colorful friends. Next we went tubing, which was hilarious! We held on tight, screaming and laughing so hard as it felt like that Captain was doing his best for us to wipe out. The perfect ending of an active day was to relax in the beach hammock then enjoy the view from our Suite before dinner.
The next day I visited some other hotels on island for Conde Nast, then came back to Curtain Bluff for our Spa experience. In fact, the Spa at Curtain Bluff recently won Best Destination Spa by Conde Nast Johansens. We knew we were heading somewhere special when walking to the point of the bluff surrounded by water where the spa is located. I opted for a hot stone massage with Wayan, who was incredible! I could hear the sound of the waves crashing below as I drifted into a blissful state. After the treatment we relaxed in the hot tub at sunset over looking distant Caribbean Islands. Don't miss this Spa experience!
On Sunday, Kino arrived to begin filming for her network, OmStars. It was a short time together, but we had a blast! One of the resort gardeners named Smooth brought us fresh coconuts. We watched in awe as he climbed a tall tree for more coconuts.
Then we paddle boarded and played with fun yoga poses on the paddle boards. I needed to leave by afternoon, but Kino stayed another three nights where she completed several beach yoga classes for Om Stars, a Global Yogi Lifestyle segment, where she Xplored the island and learned more about a local Rastafarian community. Stay tuned for this episode of Global Yogi.
