HOTEL REVIEWS: Playa Grande Beach Club, Dominican Republic

playa grande beach club.jpg

Playa Grande Beach Club is unique boutique hotel on the north coast of Dominican Republic surrounded by nature and quaint small towns. The stylish design and meticulously manicured grounds sets this property apart from all others. The common structures and bungalows at the Playa Grande Beach Club have been created to reflect the distinctive vernacular architecture of the Dominican Republic.  Each bungalow features vintage furniture, distinctive floor tiles, details on shutters, fretwork, pops of vibrant colors and other decorative features designed by local artisans. This is a WOW property for Interior Design!

WELLNESS FEATURE: This property is ideal for a full retreat buyout, which can accommodate up to 15 - 30 people. The culinary team will create the most delicious wellness offerings. I especially loved the refreshing Welcome drink, which was a mix of mint, lime and water, blended with ice.

DON'T MISS: The abundant nature that surrounds you. In the hills above Playa Grande is an expansive national nature preserve. The Resort offers a guided hike through the hills, which gives guests an opportunity xplore local plants, flowers, and lore.

TRAVEL TIPS: Bring Cash. You will need $10 USD per person when you arrive in the airport to pay an entry tax. This must be paid in cash. If you are traveling on Jet Blue, pay for the extra leg room in order to avoid time waiting on lines and paying this tax.

Consider hiring a driver. Driving in the Dominican Republic is very different from the U.S. and you will be much more at ease with a driver. If you decide to brave the roads yourself be sure to bring extra cash for all the tolls and watch out for the motorbikes passing on all sides.
